DRONES R FUNNY?

"WHY DO THEY HATE US?" a common bleat from the sheeple after 9-11

aloha,
just a minor pet peeve or two today.

"W"
BBC NEWS reports that George W.Bush once told the argentine (?) prez that THE US ECONOMY IS BUILT ON WARS...SIGH, guess i should be grateful that W at last told the truth but...IKE warned us about the MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX decades ago and still we fight.

i just hate to think that the US of A sends troops to foreign lands to die FOR THE SAKE OF THE ECONOMY???
NO MORE BLOOD FOR OIL & PLUTOCRATS.the body count has reached ONE THOUSAND in afghanistan, now officially AMERICA'S LONGEST WAR but as low as the DOW PASSES 10,000 i guess it's okay? HUGE HUGE SIGH. how many dead soldiers per the NYSE point? HEAVY HEARTED SIGH,one is too many .

DRONES NOT FUNNY
a few weeks back, at the white house corespondents dinner O BOMBER "joked" about SENDING DRONES AFTER THE JONAS BROS if the fooled around with their biggest fans, his daughters.

HE JOKED ABOUT THIS!

there is nothing funny about drone strikes. latest reports say at least 20% are COLLATERAL DAMAGE (i/e. innocent civilians).know what happens each time we kill someone over there with our ruthless drone strikes (O BOMBER is well titled, doing more drones now than W)...in a region where blood fueds are still in vogue, the relatives pick up a gun and hunt down our troops for revenge,NOBEL PEACE PRIZE eh?

"An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind." GANDHI

this whole issue has stuck in my craw, along with the reports yesterday that if the CIA or BLACKWATER calls in a drone strike, as covert ops there is no clear line of command or responsibility SIGH. if only the dead could speak out SIGH & CRY.
i turn and they are planting lil american flags on soldiers graves on the morning news, i change the channel back to music.i am near tears, most of the kids i grew up with lost their lives in 'nam or to CIA HEROIN later...I REMEMBER THEM THIS WEEKEND.SIGH & CRY & CRY.

BTW
i plan to make better use of my insomnia, i composed most of this blog last nite while tossing and turning.SOUL MATE SUGGESTED i try listening to something nice an hour before bed INSTEAD OF WALLOWING IN THE NEWS..directv has a LITE CLASSICAL music channel and i now do 45 minutes of that pre bedtime. so far RACHEL MADDOW had a minor, non sexual part,in last nites sprawling opus.BRADLEY COOPER from THE HANGOVER film played a major part in it too.

IT IS ALREADY BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE TODAY,
THERE ARE BIRDS OF PARADISE PLANTED OUTSIDE MY SLEEP DOCS OFC.
i have to battle holiday traffic to get some more meds.SONATA FX seem to be wearing off SLOWLY.
still have not watched the finale of LOST,maybe this weekend?
(movie humor LOST WEEKEND with Ray Milland? caught it sharp eyed Chriss?)

so i am gonna write down my dreams, drink some breakfast with bee pollen, pull on less ragged clothes and venture out into the bright sunny world.
SQUINT PAST THE HISTORIC CORRUPTION AND VENALITY & TRY TO ENJOY THE OUTSIDR WORLD, THERE IS STILL MUCH BEAUTY TO BE FOUND...(BIG BIG SMILE)

i will end on that happy note.

MINISTRY OF PISS & VINEGAR
namaste y'all
PEACE.

  1. I'd like to introduce the concept of DETACHMENT - not in the common language sense but in the Buddhist sense.

For the purposes of this blog post, being detached does not mean that we cannot enjoy anything or enjoy being with anyone. Instead, it refers to the fact that clinging very strongly to anything or anyone causes us problems.

It seems like you you have a strong attachment to knowledge about what is going on in the world, including many things that are far beyond the control of any of us.

Knowledge is good when it helps inform positive action. Yet if knowledge does not or cannot result in positive action, it's not very helpful. And when its only result is to make you feel bad, it's actually harmful. It's kind of like feeling the need to know how many people died on earth today, and what they died of. It doesn't help you or anyone else to know this, it only brings you upset and sadness.

In this case, attachment to knowledge of worldly affairs is causing you unnecessary upset, in my opinion.

I know, I should talk; I watch Rachel Maddow and listen to Randi Rhodes. But I also turn these things off when I start feeling bummed out. From a Buddhist perspective, it's kind of like trying to be a little bit pregnant. Yet mostly, it works for me.

In the political world of our semi-democracy, you need to know enough to know how to get involved, what to vote for or against, where to put your time and money ...and that's about it. Knowing much more than that only causes you upset.

I like the Jedi term Non-Attachment to detachment. Because it suggests more accurately how I feel about these things: It reminds me that detachment is not non-involvement and that I can and do care very much. It's just that I try to divide the productive from the counterproductive.

SM is right; spend more time on things that bring you joy and peace. For politics, you need only enough information to make an informed decision. The rest just produces unnecessary stress.

That certainly doesn't mean I want you to stop writing about things! You definitely are out of balance however... in my opinion. And as you know, I'm just full of opinions. :)
