if you have been following this new tragicomic series SHAMELESS on Showtime you will have noted the role anal sex, often with a huge veiny dildo,plays among the main characters, both gay and straights.
another SHOW series EPISODES follows the exploits and tribulations of exporting a Brit series to US TV.
in this case they did it right, as evidenced by SUNDANCE running the Brit original Shameless series with its gobsmackingly thick accents also on Sunday nites.
what i also noticed as i contemplated blogging about this is the
non apologetic non judgmental approach to the female libido
among the working poor, authentic as seen thru my eyes
via my Harlem childhood..wimmin can be aggressive or fickle
or bitchy BUT so can men.more Real than most tv IMHO...sigh,
now that Dexter's wife Rita is dead.
the struggle for SURVIVAL is utmost and the carnal
pleasures of life are sandwiched in between the daily
struggles to make ends meet. if you have never missed a meal
or slept on a sidewalk or hitched across america u might tend to
look down your nose at these chrracters but u would would
be missing a rich tapestry of emotions and experiences.
this is the CLASS STRUGGLE..TO SURVIVE with a smidgen of dignity,at least.
some of it is a trifle far fetched but true in this context, i will leave that for u to decide.
SKINS ON MTV
i watched and semi enjoyed 3 seasons of SKINS on BBC America with nary a trace of outrage
or notice from the outside world,now after merely 2 episodes on MTV it is raising a stinky furor over the concept that TEENAGERS ARE HORNY DRUG ABUSERS,really? the Concept of Childhood is a fairly recent invention of the Middle Class, before that children were merely undersized adults.children are Curious about Everything and constantly experimenting with everything they can get their grubby lil hands on.
WOLF GIRL enjoyed, so she said, sex with her father until she got older and worried about pregnancy..KIM masturbated herself to sleep in her crib with her teddy bear and probably still does...my Mother was a screamer which roused my curiosity early, or maybe i'm just "oversexed"? sigh.
