1940s-60s NYC
where i grew up, nyc, u knew where the ehtnics lived -niggers in Harlem (formerly where the Dutch had been b4 pushed into then out of HAARLAM), Brooklyn,Bed-Stuy around Coney Island and tiny parts of Queens,"spics" (mostly puerto ricans in Spanish Harlem and parts of the South Bronx,middle class and rich jews along Fordham Road and Grand Concourse,Italians in Lil Italy and Hells kitchen and the few Chinese in Chinatown near the Bowery and Greenwich Village-which was often racially and sexually mixt and whites just about everywhere else.

niggers on the east side,wetbacks got the shitty south side (which looked worse than Tiajuana when i was there but was near jobs at  Lackland Air Force Base),rich whites got the north side near the airport and less rich to middle got the west side.

1960s L.A.
niggers in Central and South L.A.,Compton and Watts, latinos got the entire east side, some Koreans in KoreaTown (near Crenshaw???) which was south of Central but above Compton and Watts,middle class whites to the west and the rich whites in the north west side-Hollywood Hills and San Fernando Valley( home of the Valley Girl). i lived in Inglewood briefly near the Felt Forum which was apparently mixt racially then at Central near the L.A. Coliseum and USC (nicknamed the University of Spoiled Children..OJ is a famous  alum)

1970s to 1980s frisco

North Beach was originally the Italian sector until Chinatown encroached on it then they fled  south  to San Mateo County,flipinos and latinos got Daly City, while the blax got Hunters Point ( with its WWII contamination issues still unresolved) the Other Third (bleak post industrial squalor),ButcherTown nearby, the Filmore and West Addition west of City Hall and parts of the seedy shabby Tenderloin, the Haight was mixt since the hippies and the Avenues were lily white until the elderly Chinese  moved in then White Flight kicked in again, the Marina (crippled during Loma Prieta) was lily white with a very few Chinese and SoMa south of Market was elderly filipino and white sea mean and of course Redeveloped for rich peeps in highrises...the latinos owned the Mission from the Central  Freeway all the way south to Daly City with a few whites sprinkled along San Jose Avenue and elsewhere( SM lived there too).

i lived in the Haight when speed was king then later in the Tenderloin at Geary and Leavenworth, i just realized that i integrated my building...my white friend Bill V told me about upcoming vacancy next to his place and i was the second to see the place before noon (the woman b4 had not liked the color of the walls or the offer by the manager Clyde to DIY) Clyde asked me what i thot of the walls, a pinkish salmon. i said IT HAS FOUR RIGHT,OKAY WITH ME. peeled off the rent and security deposit and began moving in that day. lil did i know that most of the lil olde lady retirees were terrified of me....as they were of the Korean couple who moved in to replace the sticky fingered Clyde.

1975 frisco
found out that two of the five cab companies at that time did NOT hire wimmin, black and brown, i can name them since there was a lawsuit-Luxor and Desoto, the third company hired mostly Chinese that its owner Guy Wong could bully.so it was a choice of Yellow or Veterans (began by WWII vets natch) so i got hired by Veterans...didn't take long to find out where to go if you wanna get robbed...

1986 frisco oaktown
i had a pregnant white wife and four cats, so we all moved to Oakland which has a frothy mix of all ehtnicities in the flat lands and the snobby white rich perched on the hills above. it you are white with a black or tan partner you soon learn that your skin color counts for nothing when you move and in The Mirage's case she soon learned that black wimmin would taunt and hate her until she produced a cute lil chocolate child...she and i would play the skin game when it came to deal with shopping,door to door hucksters,Jehovah Witnesses and the many moves we had to endure,some even voluntarily.one point, i never met my in laws, they sent only enuff for The Mirage and the kid then kids but never me, and The Mirage got called WHORE for Her Trick Babies by many in the whites of the Mid west.. SIGH.  her sister and husband in frisco,being 'liberals' seemed to accept me okay.but what do i know?

1990s Mendocino County

even tho s'cruz has exactly the same racial mix as Mendo i have only faced blatant racism here once when a white kid played stupid when i asked for a Marianne Faithful CD at a nearby store , now defunct record store, i know it was racism cuz SM went in the very next day and got the CD minus any hassle.
we recently went to HENFLINGS  a notorious biker bar along Highway 9, i was half expecting trouble but we went with friends.and soon saw latinos, polynesians and a couple of mixt breeds and aside from the spine-unfriendly bar stools we had a nice time.

was listening to RUSH LIMBO on KSCO as i waited for Soul Mate outside the doctors office today, he was proposing a punitive tax ONLY ON KALIpornia cuz we had the audacity to pass AB32 in the face of Big Oils attempt to squash it. with Prop 25. he was in full throated  bloviation mode as i turned it so i never found out what set him off. of course the DITTOHEADS called in to regurgitate this party line LEVEL PLAYING FIELD NONESENSE.
speaking of nonsense this is one i forgot, when i went back to college as an old fart in my mid 30s i could tell that everyone around me that i was some kinda AFFIRMATIVE ACTION  BABY( altho i never took a cent in fedgov student  loans and paid cash all the way thru to my aptly named B.S.
