Longevity, n. Uncommon extension of the fear of death."
Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary
( a personal hero of mine,see sidebar,
and yes i do have a copy of this book
- how could i resist?)
hola,
they have been tearing up and asphalting the street
just outside our house this week, milking it by working
slowly despite the fine weather-so between that
and doctors have been away from
my olde steampunk PC since sunday
when GOOGLE demanded i
"prove you're not a robot"
when i was trying to catch up
on the backlog of crip digest posts.
anyhoo....SOUL MATE dragged me to a movie
last saturday, she is HUGE fan of Vanessa Redgrave
whom she once met 40 years ago in England
and the film starred Terence Stamp
who i liked long before he was General Zod
and PRESCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT(sp?)
the movie is called UNFINISHED SONG
***** (5 stars out of five)
you would not think a movie about a husband
aging ungracefully
and a wife dying of cancer
and a song competition
would be such a feel good tearjerker.
BTW never saw the IT factor in
Gemma Atherton until this film
where she is radiant while being ordinary.
it is a film about LOVE
with a sourpuss gloomy hubby(like me)
loving his life affrimng wife (like SM)
then she dies and despite
his doubts he goes on.
do yourself a favor and go see this, okay?
BTW2 are you all as sick of the
George Zimmerman trial as i am?
Lee Harvey Oswald could not have gotten better coverage
and why should i give a fuck about Jodi Arias???
cable TV news (sic) is doing it's usual MSM
disservice to the american people
with it's wall to wall coverage
and rampant speculation on all fronts.
saw Nader on CSPAN recently
where he decried cable snooze as
"reporters talking to reporters"
which is why my MSNBC watching
is doing a tailspin and i am
eagerly awaitng Al Jazeera taking over
CURRENT TV this august,
also i missed the old fashioned hard news
of CBC broadcasts from years ago.
my eyes are now too bad to spend
the 10 to 13 hours of news on a fkatscreen
that i absorb every single day
except weekends.
plus i still feel woozy and off kilter from
the brain MRI i had last week.
whatever.
